UNPOPULAR BUT TRUE

I am about to say something that I am sure will be unpopular with a lot of people but it is true.   A friend of mine just brought something to my attention.   Apparently the president has come under fire yet again.   He was on a talk show and was talking about his lack of skill as a bowler.   He made a remark that he really should not have made, but I really think people are getting all upset over something that is not that big a deal.   He said he bowled 100 and something I do not remember the exact amount, and it was like the special Olympics.   I WANT TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR I DO NOT THINK HE SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT, but I think it became such a big stink because of who he is not because of what he said.   Let's face it many Americans are not happy with how he is running the country, and I think they are letting their personal feelings about him shade their reactions to things he says even if he did not mean to offend when he said it.

I will even offer up a little proof of what I am saying.   How many of you have seen the movie stripes?   It is one of my favorite movies.  I love Herald Ramies and Bill Murray, but if you have watched it as many times as I have you will know what I am about to point out.    Do you remember the scene in John's apartment after he lost his job and his girl left him, when Russell came to visit him.   They were watching tv when a commercial for the army came on the tv.   John says to Russell that they should join the army.   Russell says he bets John he can not do 5 push ups.   When John did the third push up Russell said,  I think you're ready for the Special Olympics.  This statement was in a popular motion picture, by a famous actor.   It was not on a late night talk show.   Over the decades sense Stripes was made millions of people have viewed it.   Do you realllllllllllly think millions of people would have viewed Obamas statement if the media had not picked it up and made a big thing out of it?    Now here is the question:  If comparing oneself to a special Olympian is something so deadly that it cuts people in their emotional hearts, Why was there no big scene about it when Stripes first came out?   And here is another question for you: Had some popular comedian of todays time said the same thing Obama did on a late night talk show would it have even made the news.

I really hate feeling the need to defend someone that has made as many mistakes as Obama has in his career, but if you are going to pick at the guy why use something that others have gotten away with over the years?   Why not pick something more in keeping with his line of work?   What you are all failing to realize is no matter what else he is he is also human and humans make stupid mistakes.   Should he have said that?  It was defiantly  not the smartest thing he ever did, but was it scandal worthy?  No it was not the news people must have had a slow day that day.

I am sure a lot of you anti Obama people are setting there thinking she is pro Obama, but you will be wrong again if you do.   I did not vote for him nor do I think all his decisions  are the best, but as someone who has taken a lot of heat for one dumb remark I can feel a little sorry for him.   Heck I am sure many of you will feel this whole blog was a dumb thing to do, but when I feel something I need to write about it.   You may feel free to voice your opinions to this or any of my blogs if you wish, but I suggest you do not use any foul language as I will delete such entries.
