A female card shark puts her father's lessons to the test.
As a young girl, ‘Ace’ learned Texas Hold’em from her father. Years later, after her father’s death, she attempts to put his lessons to use by earning her medical school tuition at the tables.
To be perfectly honest, it’s hard for me to think of many positive things to say about this film. It’s not completely unwatchable, so I guess that counts. Don’t get me wrong, I would never call this a good movie but if you’re stuck on an airplane or just really bored, it’ll do just fine. And since the standards have been set extremely low, it actually rates decently against other poker movies.
The acting is poor, the script is generic and the poker action is silly and unauthentic. I love Michael Madsen but he doesn’t have a huge role in this film and the rest of the cast is quite weak.
Full of the usual poker movie sins and seeming to take little to no interest in getting it right.
Watching poker is great, but wouldn’t you rather be playing? Play free poker.
